    No matter what your interest or skill level, Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers hundreds of classes year-round during the daytime, evening and weekend for adults ages 18 and up. Activities and classes are held in schools and local businesses throughout the school district's geographic area and online.
  • Adults with special needs

    The Adults with Special Needs program (also known as "Project Power") provides specialized classes for adults with disabilities, offering accommodation services for all program participants. Activities and classes offer educational, recreational and social activities for participants that practice life skills to increase independence, communication, and community integration. Activities and classes are offered in a wide range of styles and formats to meet the needs of students, including arts and crafts; cooking and dining; health and safety; music and theater; recreation, athletics and exercise.

    2023-24 School Year Registration is available. Call 763-506-1400 for details. 2024-25 School year and Summer 2024 Registration Dates: Registration is now open. Some sites are filled to capacity and are on waiting list or closed for registration. Current attending A+ Families may register for 2024-25 School Year & Summer 2024 sessions. Registration is now open to all families to register. Remaining spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Students must be enrolled in the Anoka-Hennepin independent school district in order to receive summer child care services. (We are no longer able to serve out-of-district students in our summer program. This includes families who live within the district boundaries but attend a charter or private school.) New AH District families may register for 2024-25 School year & Summer 24 sessions: beginning March 19 2024 at 6:00 am (New family Contracts received before March 19 will be removed and families will need to re-register on March 19 at 6:00 am.) Registrations will be reviewed in the order that they were received by our online system, and could take up to 10 business days to process. In order for a registration to be processed, all program balances must be paid in full. Accounts with a balance overdue will not be processed. Adventures Plus school-age child care is available for families enrolled and attending in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. The program provides before- and after-school care at elementary schools during the school year, school year schedule must remain consistent from week to week for the duration of your contract, and all-day care during the summer months at select school sites for students entering kindergarten - grade six in the upcoming school year, summer schedules are pick your day with a 20 day minimum requirement. 2024-25 child care rates (all rates subject to change) Adventures Plus school-age care requires a non-refundable registration fee of $35/child (not to exceed $70/per family per season) charged at the time that the contract is accepted. Families are invoiced Monthly and payments are due on the 1st of each month for that months care. part-time rate (2- 4 days/week) full-time rate (5 days/week) AM $14.00 per day/ per child $11.00 per day/per child PM $12.00 per day/per child $9.60 per day/per child *Part-time schedules must be a consistent schedule- the days must remain the same from week to week. Non-School Days (NSDs) $45/day/child if registered by deadline $60/day/child if registered after deadline (depending space availability) **Non-school day registration for the 2024-25 school year opens on September 1st 2024 at 8 am for all families with an approved Adventures Plus contract. ** Sites for 2024-25 care All schedule changes are subject to a $30 schedule change fee per contract. All Schedule Changes must be submitted two full weeks in advance. Each schedule change will be assessed a $30 change fee per contract. After a month is invoiced it is deemed closed and will default to the preceding month. If the system entered date is later than your needed request, please email adventuresplus@ahschools.us with required information: 1) your child care account #, 2) site your child attends, and 3) LAST date of attendance for current schedule. Without this information your schedule change will be approved as is with the system entered date. Withdrawing of Child care contracts, subject to a $30.00 Withdrawal fee per contract. Online withdrawal is required when a parent/guardian intends to withdraw from Adventures Plus. Fees will continue to be incurred until the effective withdrawal date. Two week notice required. After a month is invoiced it is deemed closed and will default to the preceding month. If the system entered date is later than your needed request, in the Reason for Withdrawal section you must indicate the last date that you would like to attend child care services. This date must be 2 weeks out. Without this information your withdrawal request will be withdrawn "as submitted" with the system entered date. Registrations are based on the current draft of the district calendar. If at any point the district calendar changes, care options and availability are subject to change as well. 2024 summer child care rates Summer rates include breakfast, lunch, snack, field trips/events included in the program. Adventures Plus school-age care requires a non-refundable registration fee of $35 per child, (not to exceed $70/per family per season) charged at the time that the contract is accepted. Families are invoiced Monthly and payments are due on the 1st of each month for that months care. Part-time rate: $52 per day/per child. (20-35 days) Full-time rate: $42 per day/per child. (36 or more days) Summer Hours : all Summer site Locations 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM All rates are subject to change. Summer 2024 schedule changes must be received online by May 1, 2024 for the entire summer - June through August (this includes adding and/or dropping days. After May 1, 2024 no schedule changes will be accepted and families will be billed for the days registered regardless of attendance. Families may not drop below the 20 day minimum. If your contract changes "rate range" your contract price per day will be adjusted to the new rate. Withdrawal notices received after May 1st will be charged a minimum of 20 days regardless of attendance) Summer 2024 site locations - (please note: if your school is not available for registration - the site and wait list has filled to capacity and we are unable to take anymore registrations.)     Community Education offers a wide range of aquatic opportunities for community members of all ages, including swimming lessons, water exercise, competitive swim training, American Red Cross certification courses, and recreational open swim opportunities at Roosevelt Community Pool in Blaine.
  • Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

    ECFE offers classes and programs to support families with babies, toddlers, and children up to grade three. Classes to support parents, caregivers, and families. FREE class for parents of newborns - Newborn Parenting Series Playtime with toys, songs, and activities. Pre-K to Grade 3 Parenting workshops for families with children up to grade 3. Early Childhood Screening is a FREE, simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning. State law requires children to be screened between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. The state of Minnesota requires a health and developmental screening for every child before kindergarten entry into a public school. Anoka-Hennepin offers this service at no cost. Screening is not a substitute for health care from your family physician, dentist, or other health care providers. Early childhood screening checks: Fine and gross motor skills Vision and hearing Speech and language development Height and weight Cognitive and social development Immunizations Appointments typically take one hour.

    Anoka-Hennepin Parent Involvement promotes partnerships, based on the belief that parents are their children's most important teacher. We offer a wide variety of resources to meet the changing needs and interests of parents and families. Program activities encourage: Family members as involved educators of their children. School staff as they partner with families to assist students. Community members as they collaborate with families and staff to improve education for all students.
  • Preschool

    Welcome to Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool! We offer preschool class options to build the skills children need to be successful learners in preschool, kindergarten and beyond. Classrooms are inclusive of children with all abilities and are led by a licensed teacher and teaching teams include both general education and special education staff to meet the unique needs of each child. The curriculum is closely aligned with Anoka-Hennepin Schools kindergarten curriculum and we provide opportunities for children to learn through play with hands-on activities that support each area of development. Classes are held from September to May/June at locations throughout the Anoka-Hennepin School District. Multiple class options with morning and afternoon class times are available. Each class is 2.75 hours and families may only register for one class.
  • Youth Activities and Classes

    Each elementary and middle school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District has a Community Schools office which coordinates a wide variety of courses, clubs, camps and clinics to enhance your child's academic and social experiences while away from school. Families are welcome to enroll in enrichment opportunities offered at their child's school or at any school, districtwide. Activities are offered after-school, in the evening and on the weekend. The Community Schools program is dedicated to student success by providing quality programs year-round in safe, accessible environments to enhance the positive growth of youth.
