  • Early Childhood Special Education Preschool

    Early Childhood Special Education partners with Anoka-Hennepin Schools Early Learning preschool program to offer preschool learning opportunities for children identified with special needs. The program is aligned with the Anoka-Hennepin Schools elementary curriculum, which helps children prepare for kindergarten. Students participate in hands-on learning activities that are educational and fun.Classes are taught by licensed teachers at locations throughout the district. Teachers monitor child progress and development throughout the year. Children gain skills and experiences in: Following routines and rules Cooperating with other children Literacy, books and writing Science, math, art and music
  • Four-year-old Preschool - Option 1

    Four-year-old preschool - Option 1Free, half-day Monday-Thursday preschool option with transportation included. Option 1 is open to residents of Anoka-Hennepin Schools with a child four years of age by September 1, 2019, who meet the income guidelines and live or attend daycare in the following school attendance areas:Verify your school attendance area before continuing.If your school is not included on the above list, you are not eligible to register for option 1 - review other Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool options.Income guidelinesProof of income is required to complete the registration. This must be received within two weeks of registration. Without proof of income, your child’s registration will not be placed in a class and their registration may be withdrawn.Student class placementStudents will be placed in morning or afternoon classes based on school district bus routes. Families will be notified of the preschool class schedule before August 2019. Registrations are welcome throughout the year and will be placed as space is available until all classes are full.
  • Four-year-old Preschool - Option 2

    Four-year-old preschool - Option 2Free, half-day every day preschool option with transportation included. No income eligibility guidelines. Option 2 is open to residents of Anoka-Hennepin Schools with a child four years of age by September 1, 2019, who live or attend daycare in the following school attendance areas:Verify your school attendance area before continuing.If your school is not included on the above list, you are not eligible to register for option 2 - review other Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool options.UPDATE 6/26/19 - University Avenue Elementary School classes for preschool option 2 are full and no longer accepting registrations.  View other Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool options that do have current availability.Student class placementStudents will be placed in morning or afternoon classes based on school district bus routes.     Four-year-old preschool - Option 3Half-day preschool classes with multiple day, evening, and Saturday class options - parents provide transportation.Open to families with a child four years of age by September 1, 2019. Families who live outside of Anoka-Hennepin School District boundaries are welcome to register after the preliminary registration lottery.Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool classes have already started however, registrations are still being accepted for classes with availability. You will be able to select a first and second choice class from the available classes during the enrollment process. Once your registration is received, our staff will review your registration then scan our sites for availability. When a match to one of your preferred classes is found, you will be contacted so the registration can be completed and your child's start date can be confirmed. Tuition assistance / sliding tuition scaleKnowing the financial strain that tuition may place on a family's budget, a sliding tuition scale is available for four-year-old preschool - option 3. Based on income and family size, tuition is reduced from 50 percent up to no tuition. Proof of income is not required to receive tuition assistance however, it may be requested during an annual audit.Review the chart below for eligibility guidelines.
