  • Early Childhood Special Education Preschool

    Early Childhood Special Education partners with Anoka-Hennepin Schools Early Learning preschool program to offer preschool learning opportunities for children identified with special needs. The program is aligned with the Anoka-Hennepin Schools elementary curriculum, which helps children prepare for kindergarten. Students participate in hands-on learning activities that are educational and fun. Classes are taught by licensed teachers at locations throughout the district. Teachers monitor child progress and development throughout the year. Children gain skills and experiences in: Following routines and rules Cooperating with other children Literacy, books and writing Science, math, art and music
  • Option 1 - Four-year-old Preschool

    Option 1 - Four-year-old preschool Free, half-day Monday-Thursday preschool option with transportation included. Option 1 is open to families who meet all three criteria: are residents of the Anoka-Hennepin School District* with a child four years of age by September 1, 2022, meet the income guidelines (listed below), and live or attend daycare in the following school attendance areas: Verify your school attendance area before continuing. If your elementary school is not included on the above list, you are not eligible to register for option 1 - review other Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool options. Income guidelines Proof of income* is required to complete the registration. This must be received within two weeks of registration. Without proof of income, your child’s registration will not be placed in a class and their registration may be withdrawn. *The following are examples of the required documentation accepted for proof of income (use either #1 or #2): #1 – Proof of participation in one or more of the following programs: Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) Food Support (SNAP) – copy of acceptance letter Head Start Foster Care OR #2 – One of the following income verification methods for all members of the household who are working: Copy of 2021 Tax Return with the Adjusted Gross Income and number of dependants listed. Copy of 2021 W2 form for parents/guardians Student class placement Students will be placed in morning or afternoon classes based on school district bus routes. Families will be notified of the preschool class schedule before August 2022. Registrations are welcome throughout the year and will be placed as space is available until all classes are full. Class schedule Classes are held Monday-Friday with both morning and afternoon sessions. Classes closely align with the Anoka-Hennepin School District calendar. Meals As part of the USDA Free and Reduced School Meals Program, children attending preschool in the morning will be served breakfast. Children attending preschool in the afternoon will be served lunch.
  • Option 2 - Four-year-old Preschool

    Option 2 - Four-year-old preschool - Option 2 Free, half-day every day preschool option with transportation included. No income eligibility guidelines. Option 2 is open to families who are: Residents of the Anoka-Hennepin School District* for a child four years of age by September 1, 2022 and Live in or attend child care in the attendance areas of the schools listed below: *if you are not a resident of the Anoka-Hennepin School District, see Option 3. Verify your school attendance area before continuing. If your elementary school is not included on the above list, you are not eligible to register for option 2 - review other Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool options.   • Option 3 - Four-Year-Old Preschool

    Four-year-old preschool - Option 3 Half-day preschool classes with multiple day, evening, and Saturday class options - parents provide transportation. Open to families with a child four years of age by September 1, 2022. Families who live outside of Anoka-Hennepin School District boundaries are welcome to register after the initial registration lottery. NOTE: For registrations after September 3, 2022 Thank you for your interest in Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool program. Although registration started in March, there is still availability in some classes. Your registration will go to waiting list status until our staff can review the registration then scan our sites for availability. When a match to one of your preferred classes is found, you will be contacted so the registration can be completed and your child's start date can be confirmed. If no match is found, your registration fee will be refunded and your child will be added to your preferred class waiting list. Tuition assistance / sliding tuition scale Knowing the financial strain that tuition may place on a family's budget, a sliding tuition scale is available for four-year-old preschool - option 3. Based on income and family size, tuition is reduced from 50 percent up to no tuition. Proof of income is not required to receive tuition assistance however, it may be requested during an annual audit. Review the chart below for eligibility guidelines.

    Three-year-old preschool Half-day preschool classes with two or three day class options - parents provide transportation. Open to families with a child three years of age by September 1, 2022.
