About Youth Activities and Classes

Each elementary and middle school in the Anoka-Hennepin School District has a Community Schools office which coordinates a wide variety of courses, clubs, camps and clinics to enhance your child's academic and social experiences while away from school. Families are welcome to enroll in enrichment opportunities offered at their child's school or at any school, districtwide. Activities are offered after-school, in the evening and on the weekend.

The Community Schools program is dedicated to student success by providing quality programs year-round in safe, accessible environments to enhance the positive growth of youth.

Programs are available for children ages three to 18 years of age, including:

Arts and crafts
Athletics, sports and recreation
Aquatics, swimming lessons and open swim
Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
Language, culture and performing arts
Field trips

Youth 0 to 6 years old

BALANCE AND FLEXIBILITY CLASS - Fall 2022 Middle and High School Athletes Join Anoka HS Gymnastics Coach Amy Hedberg for a class focused on strength thourgh balance and flexibility. The goal is to focus on these areas to prevent injuries and create body wellness in our sports and everyday life. WHO: Boys and Girls in Grades 6-12 WHEN: Wednesdays: Sept 14 to Nov 9, 2022 TIMES: 3:15 to 4:00 pm WHERE: Sandburg Education Center, 1902 2nd Avenue, Anoka Door #4 – Gym #2 COST: $25 per person REGISTRATION Register online at www.DiscoverCommunityEd.com - 24 hours a day using your VISA, MasterCard or Discover Card. Click on Youth activities and classes-districtwide. A confirmation will be emailed to you if an email is provided. Customer initiated cancellations made at least five business days before class start date may qualify for a refund less $10. Cancellations made less than five days are not eligible for a refund.

This leotard is for the Anoka High School gymnastics team participants for the 22-23 season. We will use this leotard for two competitive seasons. This is the leotard we will wear as a team during the warm up portion of our competitions. This is a required item for team members. We need to place this order now for these to arrive in time for our first competition as these special orders take 8-12 weeks. The booster club will purchase a small number of extras to cover those who may join the team after this date and we will place another order (if needed) when the season begins, but those late orders will not arrive until late season. Orders must be placed by September 16, 2022

Fall 2022 Parent/Child Pre-School Gymnastics - 18 months to 3 year olds Join coaches from the Anoka Gymnastics family for an awesome class. You will learn safe, developmental gymnastics with a focus on strength and technique. Instructors will work to get to know each gymnast and help them move forward with their strength and skills! These classes requires one adult to participate in the class for each child. Other family members may not take part in class and may not be left unattended in the viewing area. Each class will be planned by the Anoka High School Head Gymnastics Coach, Amy Hedberg. WHO: Group 1 – Tuesday's - 10:35 to 11:15 am Group 2 - Wednesday's - 9:45 to 10:25 am WHEN: Tuesday’s – September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25, and November 1 and 8 (9 meetings) Wednesday's - September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2 and 9 (9 meetings) WHERE: Sandburg Education Center, 1902 2nd Avenue, Anoka, MN 55303 Door #4 COST: $75.00 per child

Fall 2022 Tornado Tumblers Gymnastics Join coaches from the Anoka Gymnastics family for an awesome class. You will learn safe, developmental gymnastics with a focus on strength and technique. Instructors will work to get to know each gymnast and help them move forward with their strength and skills! Each class will be planned by the Anoka High School Head Gymnastics Coach, Amy Hedberg. Each participant may have one adult view class from the seating area. Space in our gym is very limited, please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your designated class time to allow the previous class to exit.Only registered participants and coaches are allowed on the gymnastics equipment. This class requires independent participation. One adult per child must remain in the viewing area. Each class will be planned by the Anoka High School Head Gymnastics Coach, Amy Hedberg.
