    Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers learning and enrichment opportunities in the water for adults. Whether you want to learn to swim, improve your stroke technique or burn a few calories, Roosevelt Community Pool provides a variety of lessons, activities and classes for adults to enjoy. Adult aquatic exercise: Take advantage of the unique benefits of water exercise. Adult swimming lessons: Learn to swim - no matter what your age or skill level. Adult Lap Swimming & Water Walking: Keep up a fitness regime. Please note, Anoka-Hennepin Community Education's registration policy is the following: any class cancellations must be done five business days before the class begins and there is a $10 processing fee. If the Anoka-Hennepin School District closes for snow or a cold day, all community education programming is closed for that day too. We will post it on our Facebook page or if you are registered, see below. For those who register for a session (not drop-in): If we have a class cancellation for any reason (snow day, instructor ill, etc.) you will receive a refund for the missing day. You can opt into text messages, which will alert you to a last-minute cancellation. You will only receive a text message for this scenario, we do not text anything else.

    No matter what your interest or skill level, Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers hundreds of classes year-round during the daytime, evening and weekend for adults ages 18 and up. Activities and classes are held in schools and local businesses throughout the school district's geographic area and online.
  • Adults with special needs

    The Adults with Special Needs program (also known as "Project Power") provides specialized classes for adults with disabilities, offering accommodation services for all program participants. Activities and classes offer educational, recreational and social activities for participants that practice life skills to increase independence, communication, and community integration. Activities and classes are offered in a wide range of styles and formats to meet the needs of students, including arts and crafts; cooking and dining; health and safety; music and theater; recreation, athletics and exercise.

  • Aquatics

    Community Education offers a wide range of aquatic opportunities for community members of all ages, including swimming lessons, water exercise, competitive swim training, American Red Cross certification courses, and recreational open swim opportunities at Roosevelt Community Pool in Blaine.
  • Athletic Leagues

    Community education coordinates adult athletic leagues and activities. Sign up as a team or as an individual on the free agent list. Community Education offers adult recreation leagues including: Softball (fall and spring) Volleyball (fall, winter and spring) Basketball (winter) Are you interested but don't have a team, or are there other sports you would like us to offer?   • Certification Classes

    We offer a variety of American Red Cross classes, including: -Lifeguard Training -Lifeguard Recertification -Water Safety Instructor Thee water safety and lifeguarding courses are designed and taught by industry-leading professionals who can help you not only help others stay safe in, on, and around the water, but can help you learn the latest safety and rescue techniques, and deliver critical care, like CPR, first aid, and AED administration, when it's needed most. And although every class varies, each will cover a variety of important skills that can not only help you stay safe and help others enjoy the water safely, but can help you begin, or advance, your career.
  • Competitive Swim

    This program is for participants in 6th-12th grades. The prerequisites for this program are: -knowledge of competitive strokes -ability to swim 50 yards (2 lengths to the pool) The following guidelines will need to be followed in order to participate in the program: The participant may enter the pool facility five minutes prior to class. The participant should come dressed to swim if possible. The participant is allowed goggles, swim cap, towel, warm-ups, flip-flops/sandals and a plastic water bottle (must be a screw top). Do not share equipment. Please bring the following: googles, kickboard*, and pull buoy*. If you do not have these*, they can be checked out to you for the class. Googles and swim caps are available for purchase. The participant must leave five minutes after the class ends. If the participant is not feeling well, PLEASE do not come to class. No partial or pro-rated fees for absences/ vacations/ etc.
  • Diving Programs

    Beginning Diving Come learn the basics of diving. This small group environment will allow individuals to work at their own pace. This class is for individuals ages 6-13. All participants must be able to swim in deep water and be a strong swimmer. This class covers diving off the side of the pool and diving board.

You will be receiving a confirmation email with a link to the required forms”) Step 12: Complete the parent registration form that was emailed to you. If you do not receive a course confirmation email a few minutes after registering, your registration is not complete and your appointment is not valid. Early Childhood Screening is a FREE, simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning. State law requires children to be screened between the ages of 3 to 5 years old. The state of Minnesota requires a health and developmental screening for every child before kindergarten entry into a public school. Anoka-Hennepin offers this service at no cost. Screening is not a substitute for health care from your family physician, dentist, or other health care providers.
