Thee water safety and lifeguarding courses are designed and taught by industry-leading professionals who can help you not only help others stay safe in, on, and around the water, but can help you learn the latest safety and rescue techniques, and deliver critical care, like CPR, first aid, and AED administration, when it's needed most. And although every class varies, each will cover a variety of important skills that can not only help you stay safe and help others enjoy the water safely, but can help you begin, or advance, your career
American Red Cross Lifeguard TrainingInterested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. This class is a blended learning course, with some in-person and some online work. Must be 15 years old by the final day of class Blended Learning course format 19 hours, 30 minutes in-person/7 hours 30 minutes online (27 hours) You must pass a pre-course skills assessment the first class in order to continue the class. The skills assessment is the following: 1) Be able to swim 300 Yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swim goggles may be used. 2) Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. 3) Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: a) Starting in the water, swim 20 Yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are NOT allowed. b) Surface dive, feet first or head first, to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10 pound object. c) Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. The above skill test will be administered as the first thing in the course. Please be prepared. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED which is valid for 2 years.
American Red Cross Lifeguard RecertificationAn abbreviated Lifeguarding course that briefly reviews course information and allows practice of skills and knowledge before testing. Current certification in Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED is required to participate in the review course. Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED which is valid for 2 years.
