Welcome to Anoka-Hennepin Schools Preschool!

We offer preschool classes to support children with experiences, skills and knowledge for continual learning. Classrooms offer a supportive environment to build a foundation for successful learners, include children of all abilities, and are led by a licensed teacher. Teaching teams include both general education and special education staff to meet the unique needs of each child. 

Classes are held from September to May at locations throughout the Anoka-Hennepin School District. There are morning and afternoon class times are available. Class length ranges from 2.75 to four hours. Families may only register for one class. Children in community preschool spots need to be toilet trained to attend preschool classes. 

Three-year-old classes: Child must be three years old on or before September 1, 2025. (Child birthdate: September 2, 2021 to September 1, 2022).

Four-year-old classes: Child must be four years old on or before September 1, 2025. (Child birthdate: September 2, 2020 to September 1, 2021).

*Registration for 2026-27 is closed for in-district lottery placement. Registration will open again on April 16, 2026.

  • Early Childhood Special Education Preschool

    Early Childhood Special Education partners with Anoka-Hennepin Schools Early Learning preschool program to offer preschool learning opportunities for children identified with special needs. The program is aligned with the Anoka-Hennepin Schools elementary curriculum, which helps children prepare for kindergarten. Students participate in hands-on learning activities that are educational and fun. Classes are taught by licensed teachers at locations throughout the district. Teachers monitor child progress and development throughout the year. Children gain skills and experiences in: Following routines and rules Cooperating with other children Literacy, books and writing Science, math, art and music
