MS - Fencing
Fencing has evolved and been deemed the "sport of the intellectual athlete!" Headed up by Olympic Coach Ro Sobalvarro, new students get introduced to a pulse-pounding sport while returning students continue their study through Coach Sobalvarro's progressive curriculum. Safety is our first priority. We supply safety swords, protective masks, chest plates and jackets in a high-octane, inclusive environment. Wear long pants and athletic shoes. Presented by Youth Enrichment League. -
MS - Girls Basketball Gr 6
In this competitive basketball league, players will learn the skills and strategies of basketball with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. A and B level teams will be formed based on each player’s skill level. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Activity bus available. -
MS - Girls NFL Flag Football
We will combine skills instruction along with organized competition. Learn offensive and defensive strategy, along with passing, catching and footwork. With fewer players on the field, there’s more fun and a faster speed of play. Join the movement and be part of the first Girls NFL Flag team in the area! Activity bus available T/Th. -
MS - Girls Track
Participants are taught proper track and field training techniques with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Activity bus available M-Th. -
MS - Horsemanship
Attention horse lovers! Learn how to groom, saddle and mount a horse. Lessons are outdoors (rain or shine) in a controlled environment. Signed waiver required on first day. Students must be 52” tall and ambulatory. Classes held at: Bunker Hills Stables, 550 Bunker Lake Blvd, Andover. Phone: 763-757-9447. Please check in a half hour prior to class. -
MS - Howling with the Wolves
Join us at the Wildlife Science Center, the areas premier wildlife facility, to learn about some of Minnesota's most fascinating animals. Resident wolves, mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, lynx and raptors will be the focus of this informative program. At the end of the program, toast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate while the wolves fill the darkness with their incredible wild song. *Please check their website at www.wildlifesciencecenter.org or call the Wildlife Science Center for further information or direction to their new site. MS - LEGO® Robotics Challenge: SMART Moves
Design, build, program and test your robot's ability to accomplish challenge missions on the playing field. Learn and demonstrate your skills and knowledge about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) principles as you design, construct and program a robot that navigates itself within a playing field filled with obstacles. MS - Nordic Ski Team
Join a great group of athletes and coaches this winter! Whether you are an accomplished skier or a newcomer to the sport, we'd love to have you ski with us. Winter will come undoubtedly in Minnesota! Why not learn more about how to enjoy the snow and cooler temperatures? Your season will begin with dry-land training in preparation for the arrival of snow. Once snowflakes fall, and they will, you'll learn to ski as well as compete in meets against other athletes your age. We will practice alongside the Blaine HS Nordic Ski Team. -
MS - Ping Pong
In this ping pong league, players will learn the skills and strategies of ping pong with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Players practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Activity bus available. -
MS - RC Car Racing Event
Interested in remote control (RC) cars and trucks? Want to try racing them on a track? Then come join us for some fun as we explore what makes RC cars and trucks work and then try them out. You will test out your driving skills and gain a better understanding of how RC cars and trucks operate. -
MS - Rocketry Club
Do you want to fly BIGGER, FASTER and MORE powerful rockets? Join the Rocketry Club and build a mid-power rocket. This rocket is over 3 feet tall and flies on an “E” or “F” motor. Along with building the rocket, you will learn about space travel: past, current and future. This is your next step towards participating in High-Power Rocketry! -

MS - Skateboard Art: Inspiration In Motion
Do Rad Things is an interactive art program where students design and illustrate a skateboard deck (no wheels). The art program is facilitated by a skilled and accomplished artist, Mark Rivard. The concept is to get participants engaged in a positive and interactive experience that allows them to create their own original skateboard artwork. Do Rad Things, a multilayered arts educational experience, combines Rivard’s mobile art show of his own original skateboard artworks, and begins with a Talk and Q&A hosted by the artist himself. Participants then are invited to create their own original skateboard art piece. -

MS - Ski and Snowboarding Trip: Powder Ridge
Join us for a non-school day ski trip to Powder Ridge located in Kimball MN! The buses for this ski trip will be departing from and returning to Coon Rapids Middle School, 11600 Raven St. NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Any Anoka-Hennepin District 11 middle school student is able to register for the non-school day trips. Students must provide their own transportation to and from Coon Rapids Middle School the day of the trip. The non-school day trips are scheduled for Monday, January 16th and Monday, February 20th. A separate registration is required for each trip. For students who do not own their own equipment, ski and snowboard rentals are available for $20, as well as helmet rental for $8. Powder Ridge has a concession stand available to purchase lunch/snacks or students can bring a bagged lunch. Notes: Students must provide their own transportation to and from Coon Rapids Middle School the day of the trip. Buses will be departing from and returning to Coon Rapids Middle School, 11600 Raven St. NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Meet outside Door 9 (Community Education Door) on the south side of the building. Please arrive by 9 a.m. to load onto the bus. The bus departs promptly at 9:30 a.m. Bus will return to Coon Rapids Middle School at 5 p.m. Parents your child should call you at 4:30 p.m. to remind you that they will be back at 5 p.m. For students who do not own their own equipment, ski and snowboard rentals are available for $20, as well as helmet rental for $8. Parents must complete the attached waiver for Powder Ridge and bring it to the bus on Monday, January 16. Student will not be allowed on the bus without a signed waiver. Powder Ridge has a concession stand available to purchase lunch/snacks or students can bring a bagged lunch. -
MS - Slowpitch Softball
In this competitive slowpitch softball league, players will learn the skills and strategies of softball with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Games will be played on weekdays between 4:00-6:00 pm. Activity bus available M-Th. -
MS - Snack Attack!
After a long, hard day at school do you go home craving a delicious and nutritious snack? Join Ms. Jenna and learn how to attack that snack time! We will make food like Monster Cookie Protein Balls, Banana Sushi Rolls, Zucchini Pizza Bites and more! You will get a recipe book to bring home so you can recreate these snacks for your family and friends. Allergy Warning: This class will use Nutella, peanut butter, milk products, wheat, and gluten. -
MS - Spring Cookie Wars
Have you ever wanted to decorate your cookies to make them special? In this class we will be using buttercream and other decorations to create exciting designs. Have fun making decorative designs to rounded cookies to create seasonal cookies! Class taught by Ms. Olson. Cookies judged by Mr. Race. -

Are you a fan of playing board games? Test your wits, meet new friends, and have fun learning and playing various strategy board games such as Chess, Risk, Catan, and more! Not meeting on February 21 and March 14. Activity buses are available.Starting Soon -
MS - Truffles and Treats
In this class we’ll be working with candy melts, marshmallows, coconut, chocolate, popcorn and sprinkles to create tasty treats! Learn how truffles are made and create your own selection of other goodies to take home. Recipes for truffles will be included. Leave class with a sample of sweets to share! -
MS - Ultimate Frisbee®
Join one of the fastest growing non-contact sports in the country. Players will learn the skills and strategies of Ultimate Frisbee® with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Based on registration numbers, A and B level teams will be formed based on each player’s skill level. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. MS - Viking Service Club/Youth for Change
Do you want to join a club to feel more involved in the community and school, make new friends, design service projects for your fellow students and work with High School students? Then join the Viking Service Club. Our first meeting will include snack and introductions, icebreakers, guest speakers from the high school service club and a round table brainstorming session. Past service projects for the community have included making cards for senior citizens, blankets for the homeless, and volunteering at Feed My Starving Children
