  • Adaptive Beginner

    We do not focus on diagnoses or labels. We teach swimming to students of all ages who are not served successfully by traditional group lessons, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other sensory and physical/motor learning differences. Class sizes are for two. Purpose To begin developing positive attitudes, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water. Prerequisites: No skill prerequisites. This class is for students who are beginner swimmers.   • Friday Morning Swim Camp

    Come join in the fun of swimming lessons, group games, and open swim. This is a drop-off program for ages 7-14 and is offered once per week. You can register for one or more sessions. All programs are led by staff certified in the American Red Cross in Water Safety Safety Instruction and a lifeguard is present at all times. The morning includes one hour of swim instruction, one hour of group games, and one hour of open swimming. Schedule 9:00-10:00 a.m. - Group Swimming Lesson - swimmers will be grouped into three categories - beginner, immediate, and advanced. Each group will be working on swimming skills appropriate for their level. 10:00-11:00 a.m. - Group Water Games 11:00-12:00 p.m. - Open Swim - swimmers must be able to complete our deep water swim test to be able to use the deep end and diving boards Swimmers are encouraged to bring a snack and a plastic water bottle.

  • Open Swim Session

    OPEN SWIM All ages are welcome during our open swim hours! Open swim time allows the opportunity for young swimmers to practice their skills, or just play and have fun. An adult is required to be in the water with children under the age of 7 (within arms reach). Lap swim and water walking in the lanes will also be available during this time as space allows. Open swim includes: Shallow end use for all swimmers Deep end swimming for all swimmers who complete a swim test. Diving board usage - one diving board will be open for diving and forward jumping. Shallow end basketball hoop and balls Rings, noodles, etc. Please note: goggles which over the nose (face mask style) and inflatables are not permitted. If you have a punch card, we will accept these if we have available space. They must be presented at the time of check-in. One punch for each person swimming will be deducted from the punch card. Pre-registration is encouraged, but we will accept drop-ins (depending upon capacity). Please note: refunds are only available on cancellations five days in advance and incur a $1.00 processing fee per transaction.
  • Summer - Beginning Diving

    Come learn the basics of diving. This small group environment will allow individuals to work at their own pace. This class is for individuals ages 6-13. All participants must be able to swim in deep water and be a strong swimmer. Your swimmer should pass Level 3.
  • Summer - Preschool 1 - Ages 3-4

    Purpose: To orient preschool-age children to the aquatic environment and to help them acquire rudimentary levels of basic aquatic skills. Children attend class independently. Prerequisites: Preschool Level 1: No skill prerequisites. Learning Objectives: Enter and exit water using ladder, steps or side. Blow bubbles through mouth and nose. Submerge mouth, nose and eyes. Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects. Front and back glides and recover to a vertical position. Back float and recover to a vertical position. Roll from front to back and back to front. Tread with arm and hand actions. Alternating and simultaneous leg actions on front and back. Alternating and simultaneous arm actions on front and back. Experience wearing a life jacket in the water. Learn how to stay safe, including recognizing and emergency and knowing how to call for help. Learn how to stay safe in, on and around the water, including the use of a life jacket, recognizing lifeguards and sun safety. Certification Requirements: Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills. Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment (can be done with support): Enter independently, using either the ladder, steps or side, travel at least 5 yards, submerge to mouth and blow bubbles for at least 3 seconds then safely exit the water. (Children can walk, move along the gutter or "swim.") While in shallow water, glide on front at least 2 body lengths, then roll to back and float on back for 3 seconds then recover to a vertical position.
  • Summer - Preschool 2 - Ages 3-4

    Purpose: To build on the basic aquatic skills learned in Preschool 1 Prerequisites: Valid American Red Cross Preschool 1 OR Successfully demonstrate the exit skills assessments from Preschool Aquatics Level 1 Learning Objectives: Enter water by stepping in ƒ Exit water using ladder, steps or side ƒ Bobbing ƒ Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects ƒ Front and back floats and glides ƒ Recover from a front or back float or glide to a vertical position ƒ Roll from front to back and back to front ƒ Tread water using arm and leg actions ƒ Combined arm and leg actions on front and back or back ƒ Finning arm action on back ƒ Learn how to stay safe, including recognizing an emergency and knowing how to call for help ƒ Learn how to stay safe in, on and around the water, including the use of a life jacket, recognizing lifeguards and sun safety. Certification Requirements: Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment (can be done with assistance): Glide on front at least 2 body lengths, roll to back, float on back for 5 seconds then recover to a vertical position Glide on back for at least 2 body lengths, roll to front, float for 5 seconds then recover to a vertical position Swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 3 body lengths, roll to back, float for 5 seconds, roll to front then continue swimming on front for 3 body lengths.
  • Summer - Preschool 3 - Ages 3 & 4

    Purpose: To increase proficiency and build on the basic aquatic skills learned in Preschool Levels 1 and 2 by providing additional guided practice with increased independence. Prerequisites: Valid American Red Cross Preschool Aquatics Level 1 OR Successfully demonstrate the exit skills assessments of Preschool Aquatics Level 2 Learning Objectives: Enter water by jumping in ƒ Fully submerge and hold breath ƒ Bobbing ƒ Front, jellyfish and tuck floats ƒ Recover from a front or back float or glide to a vertical position ƒ Back float and glide ƒ Change direction of travel while swimming on front and back ƒ Combined arm and leg actions on front and back ƒ Tread water using arm and leg actions ƒ Combined arm and leg actions on front and back ƒ Learn how to stay safe, including recognizing an emergency and knowing how to call for help ƒ Learn how to stay safe in, on and around the water, including the use of a life jacket, recognizing lifeguards and sun safety. Certification Requirements: Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment: Step from side into chest-deep water, move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll to back, float for 5 seconds then return to a vertical position. Move into a back float for 5 seconds, roll to front then recover to a vertical position. Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front then continue swimming for 5 body lengths.
  • Summer - Private Swim Lessons

    Our private lessons can help swimmers looking to build comfort and basic water skills with an instructor. These lessons provide a supportive setting to help learn swim basics or provide extra attention on strokes and level progression. Private lessons are for people of all ages and abilities. Private lessons are for one student.

    Purpose To give participants success with fundamental skills, including learning how to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. Prerequisites Valid American Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills OR Successful demonstration of all certification requirements from Level 1 Learning Objectives Enter and exit water by stepping or jumping from the side Fully submerge and hold breath Bobbing Open eyes underwater and retrieve submerged objects Front, jellyfish and tuck floats Front and back glides (2 body lengths) Recover to a vertical position Roll from front to back and back to front Change direction of travel while swimming on front or back Tread water using arm and leg actions (15 seconds) Combined arm and leg actions on front and back (5 body lengths) Finning arm action (5 body lengths) Learn how to stay safe, including recognizing an emergency, knowing how to call for help and perform simple non-swimming assists Learn how to stay safe in, on and around water, including the use of life jacket, recognizing lifeguards and sun safety Learn to look carefully before entering the water Learn what to think about and do when exhausted or caught in a dangerous situation Certification Requirements Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment: Step from side into chest-deep water, move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll to back for 5 second float then return to vertical position. Move into a back float for 5 seconds, roll to front then recover to a vertical position. Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to the front then continue swimming for 5 body lengths (participant can be assisted when taking a breath).

    Purpose To build on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice in deeper water. Also, learning the fundamentals for swimming strokes. Prerequisites Valid American Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 2 OR Successful demonstrate of all certification requirements from Level 2 Learning Objectives Enter water by jumping from the side Headfirst entries from the side in sitting and kneeling positions Bobbing while moving toward safety Rotary breathing Survival float (30 seconds) Back float (30 seconds) Change from vertical to horizontal position on front and back Tread water (30 seconds) Flutter, scissor, dolphin and breaststroke kicks on front Front crawl and elementary backstroke (15 yards) Learn to look carefully before entering the water Learn to perform simple non-swimming assists Learn to recognize, prevent and respond to cold water emergencies Certification Requirements Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment: Jump into deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards.

    Purpose: To further learn how to coordinate and refine strokes. Prerequisites: Valid American Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 4 OR Successful demonstration of all completion requirements from Level 4 Learning Objectives: Shallow-angle dive from the side then glide and begin a front stroke Tuck and pike surface dives, submerging completely Front flip turn and backstroke flip turn while swimming Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly Sculling (30 seconds) Treading water (5 minutes) Learn to look carefully before entering the water Learn what to think about and do when exhausted or caught in a dangerous situation Learn to perform simple non-swimming assists Learn about recreational water illnesses and how to prevent them Learn how to call for help and the importance of knowing first aid and CPR Learn basic safety guidelines for participating in aquatic activities at water parks Certification Requirements: Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment: Perform a shallow-angle dive into deep water, swim front crawl for 50 yards, change direction and position of travel as necessary and swim elementary backstroke for 50 yards. Swim breaststroke for 25 yards, change direction and position of travel as necessary and swim back crawl for 25 yards.
  • Summer - Youth Level 6 - Ages 5+

    Purpose: Swimming and skill proficiency for strong swimmers. Refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Prerequisites: Students entering this level must possess a Level 5 certificate OR Demonstrate all the Level 5 skills Learning Objectives: Front crawl and elementary backstroke (100 yards) Back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly (50 yards) Front and back crawl open turn AND flip turn while swimming Sidestroke, butterfly, and breaststroke turns while swimming HELP position (2 minutes) Huddle position (2 minutes) Feet first, tuck, and pike surface dive Back float (5 minutes) Survival float (5 minutes) Survival swimming (10 minutes) Treading water, kicking only (2 minutes) Surface dive and retrieve an object from the bottom (7-10 feet depth) Learn how to respond in dangerous aquatic situations to remain safe Learn about avoiding swimming on your own Learn about staying safe on and around boats Certification Requirements: Demonstrate proficiency in all required skills and activities, including in-water skills Successfully complete the following exit skills assessment: Swim 500 yards continuously using any 3 strokes of your choice, swimming at least 50 yards of each stroke Jump into deep water, perform a survival float for 5 minutes, roll onto back and perform a back float for 5 minutes Perform a feet first surface dive, retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool at a depth of 7-10 feet, return to surface
  • Youth Level 3 Repeat Class

    Purpose To build on the Level 3 skills that can be more challenging. Prerequisites Completed a Level 3 class without passing. This class will focus on front/back crawl skills and endurance, treading water, diving, and confidence in deeper water. This class is designed for those who have already been in a Level 3 class and only have a few skills to focus on.
