Woodworking Club at Coon Rapids High School

Youth Activities and Classes / Summer Classes and Activities -
Youth - Summer 2024

This class is intended for students in grades 8-12 who are interested in working with their hands, building fun projects, and want to learn the basics of woodworking. In this class we will focus on what the student wants to build and will train them on the use of all the power tools in the shop. This class is intended to be a fun, laid back atmosphere for students wishing to learn more about the basics of woodworking. Students will have the opportunity to choose from the long list of projects we have. Students will have the option of learning how to program and run a CNC router. Any skill level is welcome, and the class will be taught with a one-on-one approach.

Lab Fee: $20 per student per session payable with cash or check first day of the session. This covers equipment usage costs.

Material Cost:
It is not required that students pay for anything, but for students wishing to keep any project they make, there will be a materials cost pending which project they choose.

Safety Requirements:

- Each student will need to earn a safety certification through a safety training session which is taught and tested on the first day.
- Parents are encouraged to reserve time to attend a short safety overview on the first day.
- A “Safety and Release of Liability” form must be signed by a legal guardian before power tools can be used.
- Safety Glasses are required and available to borrow upon request.
