Firearms: Hunter Safety
This is the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources class that those born after 1979 must have to obtain a hunting or trapping license. Even if you don’t plan on being a hunter, this class will increase your knowledge of outdoor ethics, wildlife, survival skills, and firearms safety. This class also satisfies the requirements of other states. You MUST be 11 years old by the first night of class (no exceptions), have parental or guardian permission, attend all four sessions plus the assigned range day in order to complete this course. While we encourage parents to attend class with their student, completion certificates will be issued only to those born after 1979. -
MS - A-H Community Education Open Chess Tournament
A fun way for students of all ages to learn and improve their chess level! A chess tournament is the next arena where young chess players can test their skill. Chess tournaments are not only competitions, but social events as well. Participants will meet peers with a similar love for the game. The tournament will use the Swiss Scoring system. Concessions will be available for purchase, including a lunch option. Spectators are allowed to stay and watch. Presented by Twin Cities Chess -
MS - AMSA Western Whirl
Come and have some fun at the AMSA School Dance. The price includes one slice of pizza, a beverage, and chips. Open to Grades 6-8 who attend AMSA. Must have an ID to Enter. All students MUST be registered to attend. The deadline to register is April 14th. Sign up early. A limited number of spots are available and registration will close earlier if full. -
MS - Advanced Archery Gr 6-12
Calling middle and high school students who have already participated in an AKA Archery or National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP): Do you seek to master your aim for higher level competition or outdoor recreation? In this advanced class you will shoot from further distances and aim at more difficult shots so that by the end of the session, you will have all the skills, scoring ability and confidence to go on and compete in tournaments for the rest of your life! MS - Anime Art
Let's learn how to draw anime and manga! In this fun, engaging class, students will learn the fundamentals of the Japanese artforms of anime and manga, including character design, sketching, inking, and coloring using markers. We will explore different anime styles, dream up our own original stories with unique characters and settings, and even get a chance to create Pokémon style trading cards of our own designs. No matter what anime is your favorite, there's a place for you here. Come join your fellow artists and anime enthusiasts in this art class open to all ability levels. Presented by eHolt Art. -
MS - Aviation Club
Do you like flying airplanes? Want to learn how to fly a real radio controlled airplane? Then join the Jackson Aviation Club and get hands-on experience with our cool RC airplanes! Learn the ins and outs of the aviation world. You will have plenty of 1 on 1 instructor time to help you with assembly and flying. You will use the Jackson Middle School flight simulator and school owned airplanes. Then the last day is a field trip to Grassfield RC Club on June 3rd. Grassfield is located on the SW corner of Hwy 169 and 101st Ave in the middle of a corn field with a large pole barn at the north end of the field. Access from 101st only down a private drive. You will need to provide your own transportation both to and from the event. -
MS - Babysitter Training
Parents are looking for certified babysitters! Get a leg up on the competition with this American Red Cross class that prepares you for a wide variety of babysitting situations. Through hands-on activities, you’ll learn about the basic care of young children including safety and responsibility, age-appropriate activities and first aid. Boys and girls at least 11 years of age are welcome to participate. Class includes a comprehensive babysitting manual. Must complete the entire class to receive certification. -
MS - Babysitting 101
This course is best suited for 11 to 13-year-olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, CPR, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, and how to handle behavior problems. Students receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag, and first aid kit. This class is hosted on a non-school day, please bring a lunch and snacks as needed. -
MS - Bakery Wars
Do you like competitions? Team-up with friends, or make new friends in class, and let the fun begin! There will be multiple types of bakery products like cupcakes, brownies, cookies, and snack cakes to build fantastic creations. You will brainstorm ideas and then apply a base coat of buttercream icing to your cupcake. You will enjoy learning how to use and make an array of edible decorations to create a variety of designs for your masterpiece! Who can make the most unique creation? At the end of the class there will be a competition judged by a secret celebrity judge for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Who will win? -
MS - Beginning Archery
There is more to active life than traditional sports. Ignite your passion and excitement for sports by way of bow and arrow. In each class you'll learn the safety, technique and fun of archery, a sport that dates back hundreds of years. Master your aim and accuracy in this sport that is gaining popularity. MS - Boys Tennis
In this competitive tennis league, players will learn the skills and strategies of tennis with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Athletes will play matches against an opponent of similar skill level. Teams practice after school and compete in matches against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Bring a tennis racket if you have one. Due to enrollment numbers and transportation scheduling, there may be times when parents/guardians will be asked to transport their students. Competitions on Thursdays: May 1, 8, 15 and Wednesday, May 21 starting 4:15pm. -
MS - Boys Track
Participants are taught proper track and field training techniques with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Due to enrollment numbers and transportation scheduling, there may be times when parents/guardians will be asked to transport their students. Mark your calendars for the District Track Meet happening Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Andover High School starting at 4 pm! -
MS - Boys Volleyball
In this competitive volleyball league, players will learn the skills and strategies of volleyball with an emphasis on participation, teamwork and safety. Based on registration numbers, A and B level teams will be formed based on each player’s skill level. Teams practice after school and compete against other Anoka-Hennepin middle schools. Due to enrollment numbers and transportation scheduling, there may be times when parents/guardians will be asked to transport their students. Matches will be on Mondays: April 28, May 5, 12, 19 starting 4:30pm. -
MS - Candy Art
Do you have a ‘Sweet Tooth’? In this edible art class, you will have an opportunity to use a variety of supplies to create your delicious works of art! Learn how to pour candy coating into festive molds. Have fun dipping, swirling, and sculpting tasty treats. You can even add colorful candy sprinkles for a final touch. You will enjoy making a wide array of festive candy to take home and share with your family or friends, or even give as a gift to someone special! -

In this 3-week class students will be introduced to basic cooking skills, practice kitchen safety and learn food safety. Participants will prepare quick, simple meals using common ingredients, low-cost mixes and/or time saving foods. Each class will cook, enjoy and clean up so they can help with the families' menu planning and meal preparation. -

MS - Dungeons & Dragons Club
Dungeons & Dragons Club is a table-top role-playing game that leads players on a fantastical adventure. You will work with others as a team to fight monsters, find treasure, complete quests, and help the helpless along the way. You will create your own characters, build worlds using your imagination, and through your choices and actions, determine where the story goes. All experience levels are welcome from seasoned veterans to first-time players. -
