    Join us at the Wildlife Science Center, the areas premier wildlife facility, to learn about some of Minnesota's most fascinating animals. Resident wolves, mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, lynx and raptors will be the focus of this informative program.   • MS - Skateboard Art: Inspiration In Motion

    Artist Mark Rivard, former Monroe, Jackson, & CPHS Graduate is back to another Skateboard seminar! This is a program that promotes social engagement, creativity, storytelling, and packs an inspirational message in a one on one instructional format from artist Mark Rivard. Mark’s original skateboards quickly manifested into a brand and an international endorsement campaign with Sharpie, and his unique educational program quickly followed. His unique life story and path to success naturally became a motivational tale that he has shared at over 1,000 schools and organizations globally.   • My Little Horse Camp (Parent/Child)

    Campers will get to ride a real horse in an arena, meet a number of different horses at Boulder Pointe and learn how to groom horses...all with a focus on safety! In addition students will do an art project and have an opportunity to make horse treats to feed their new friends. Stations are split into 15 minute intervals to keep everyone engaged. Parents have the opportunity to lead their child on the horse and take photographs as they go. This 2-hour camp is designed for parent/guardian participation. Parent/Guardian is expected to remain with their child during the entire duration of the camp. Camps are held rain or shine, as Boulder Pointe has an indoor barn and arena. Parents will need to electronically complete a Release and Liability Form (one per person) on Boulder Pointe's website. Students should bring a water bottle and snack. Meet at Boulder Pointe Equestrian and Event Center, dressed for the weather inside and outside.

    Calling all crafty youngsters with a passion for all things Hawaiian! This class is perfect for unleashing your creative side and powering up on problem-solving skills! Just like in the wildly popular series Nailed It!, we'll provide you everything needed to recreate an awesome final product - but it's entirely up to YOU how you make it happen. Ready to take on some serious Island challenges? Be ready to create rad surfboards, thrilling Tiki sculptures, volcanoes that really light up...and so much more. We can't wait to see if you've got what it takes to master this "Nailed It!" Hawaii challenge – no baking here; only sculpting, painting & collaging galore! Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child each day. Presented by Kidcreate Studio.
  • One Day Horse Camp

    Kids will learn what it's like to have a horse for a day! Campers get to ride in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas for 40-50 minutes (no trails), practice how to steer, stop, turn and walk on their own. They also might make horse treats, do a craft and play games. And don't forget the time to meet and care for the horses, which is a big part of ownership! Campers are broken into smaller groups based on similar riding experience and age which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders. Campers need to bring: - Long pants, closed toe shoes - No flip flops! - Dress appropriately for the weather inside and outside of the barn - Sunscreen/sunglasses/hat/bug spray/hair tie - Water bottle/drink/snacks and a lunch - Treats for the horse if you want - Helmets are provided Parent drop-off is at 9 am and parent pick-up is at 3 pm. Sorry, parents are not allowed to stay for the day. Camps are held rain or shine, as Boulder Pointe has an indoor barn and arena.     In RC Wars, teams of students will build their own Remote Control vehicles to race and battle against other teams. Students will need to design their vehicles to not only be faster and stronger than other teams’ creations, but also better than purchased RC Cars and Drones! RC Wars will feature land and air races, obstacle courses and more as students learn mechanical and electrical building skills in an energetic and exciting environment. Presented by COR Robotics.

  • Sew Much Fun! Machine Sewing 2

    Do you love sewing and already know how to use a sewing machine? Can you sew a straight line, or do you need practice? We will spend three days on a fun project - a sewing machine mat that can be used as a machine cover, a fun lanyard and a mini wallet for you to use. Prerequisite: Student needs to know how to use a sewing machine. Students will need to bring the following supplies to class: - Sewing Machine Mat/Cover - One yard of fabric for outer, one yard of fabric for the lining, 1/4 yard contrasting fabric - Lanyard - 1/4 yard of fabric - Mini Wallet - 2 fat quarters of fabric Needed for every class: - Thread - light brown, white, gray or black - pick one color - Sewing or fabric scissors - Seam ripper - Pins or wonder clips

Students will learn to express their creativity through various drawing exercises designed for any skill level.   • Woodworking Club at Coon Rapids High School

    This class is intended for students in grades 8-12 who are interested in working with their hands, building fun projects, and want to learn the basics of woodworking. In this class we will focus on what the student wants to build and will train them on the use of all the power tools in the shop. This class is intended to be a fun, laid back atmosphere for students wishing to learn more about the basics of woodworking. Students will have the opportunity to choose from the long list of projects we have. Students will have the option of learning how to program and run a CNC router. Any skill level is welcome, and the class will be taught with a one-on-one approach. Lab Fee: $20 per student per session payable with cash or check first day of the session. This covers equipment usage costs. Material Cost: It is not required that students pay for anything, but for students wishing to keep any project they make, there will be a materials cost pending which project they choose. Safety Requirements: - Each student will need to earn a safety certification through a safety training session which is taught and tested on the first day. - Parents are encouraged to reserve time to attend a short safety overview on the first day. - A “Safety and Release of Liability” form must be signed by a legal guardian before power tools can be used. - Safety Glasses are required and available to borrow upon request.
