Anoka-Hennepin Community Education

This class is designed for beginners who are interested in trying their hand at making stained glass. All the tools, glass and supplies are provided. Students will choose from a few simple patterns designed to teach the basics steps of following a pattern, cutting glass, grinding glass, copperfoiling and soldering. We try to make it easy and fun so you will enjoy the process of creating something beautiful that you can take home and hang in your window. Bring your own safety glasses and see the description of appropriate clothing to wear to class. Please wear clothing with a smooth hard finished surface, like denim or t-shirt knit. Glass chips will stick in sweaters, fleece or lace. Best to wear shirts with a high neckline. Shoes should not have open toes, or open tops (like a slip-on), also leather is better than a mesh that would catch glass chips. Eligible UCare members may receive an allowance to spend toward community education classes. Members must have UCare insurance at the time of registration. Limits and restrictions may apply. Have you ever wanted to try oil painting, but didn’t know where to start? Start here! Jay Rupp, a certified Bob Ross instructor, will guide you step-by-step as you paint a beautiful portrait. All supplies will be provided. Wear paint-appropriate clothing and bring a bag lunch. Wooden picture frames are available for purchase after class (optional).
